A man needs a new mule, and buying one involves crossing the beautiful but challenging Sierra Maestra mountains.

In this nearly wordless film we follow as the man rides his slow, sure-footed mule up narrow tracks, across rivers, and through forests. There is a timeless quality to the journey, as he follows the same route generations before him have taken, cooking over an open fire and drinking from streams.

Good mules are hard to find, and the bureaucracy involved in buying them makes the task even more challenging. But he persists.

The Infinite Island showcases the beauty of the Cuban interior and offers a meditation on journeys - whatever their purpose.
